Here are a few pics from her website….

Can you believe she's 45 years old! Who wouldn't want a butt like that?!?! :)

Can you believe she’s 45 years old! Who wouldn’t want a butt like that?!?! 🙂

I hope I am this healthy when in 12 years!

I hope I am this healthy in 12 years!

Ok so do you think it's possible to have a stomach like this after having babies? I have my doubts between my stretch marks and hernia on my belly button....but it'd be fun to find out!

Ok so do you think it’s possible to have a stomach like this after having babies? I have my doubts between my stretch marks and hernia on my belly button….but I’m going to try my hardest to find out!

This girl is awesome. She’s over 44 years old and has the body of a 16 year old swimsuit model…except better because she’s super fit! I love her no-nonsense attitude too. She doesn’t follow a diet or eat clean, she just doesn’t eat crap, junk, or sh$t. 🙂 She hates working out but she does it anyway because she loves being fit and looking good.

I’ve struggled with my body image my WHOLE life. Literally. I have a note from third grade that I kept in my backpack with an eating plan my older brother outlined for me in order to lose my baby fat. I’ve HATED getting in a swimsuit from about 8 years old on! I still loathe it to this day…unless I can wear a comfy, cute coverup OVER my suit. That’s ok. That works for me 🙂

I don’t necessarily want to look like Laura Harris (aka ChickenTuna). Her body is phenomenal, but I’m not sure it’s realistic for me. And unfortunately the only way I’ll stop drinking red wine is if I get pregnant. I just love that she says if you DO want to look like her, you cannot splurge EVER. There is no secret pill or magic juice to drink. It’s super simple but not super easy…bust your butt in the gym and eat really, really, really healthy all the time. She actually states that the key is more about your diet and less about your workout. She doesn’t spend countless hours in the gym–I think she lifts weights three times a week and does cardio for 30 minutes 5 times a week. Anyway, read through her website and you can find out all kinds of info! 🙂

I don’t know why but ever since the holidays I’ve been struggling bad with my eating habits. Working out isn’t normally a problem for me. I can get to Crossfit every day because I really do love it. But I have a hard time staying motivated to eat healthy at least 80% of the time. My motivation usually rises along with the temperatures. We are going on a family vacation to Sedona, Arizona in a month and will be spending a lot of time by the pool. I would also love to take a couples trip to Las Vegas and sit by the pool for a few days (in a cabana!). Actually, I would like to spend as much time as possible by a pool this summer, so it would be really nice to enjoy getting in a swimsuit at least once in my life.

So I’m on a journey…again…I’m sure it won’t be my last. Hopefully it will be successful and eventful and memorable though 🙂 Thanks Laura Harris for the motivation! I would love to hear from my readers…

what motivates you?

Let me know in the comments please! 🙂

And here is an amazing quote to end my post…I love this. Consistency truly is the key to success. That and hard work. IMHO. 🙂

Persistence pays off....

Persistence pays off….

Thanks for reading!

    Hi Anna!

What an awesome referral to ChickenTuna’s blog. I’d like to start following her as well. She is amazing. I think, as women, this is exactly what motivates us. We are jealous by nature (some of are over board) so when we see someone like Laura, it motivates us to do better ourselves, and to try to look as good, or better. Thanks for pointing out that eating is so important and it’s crazy she never splurges!!! That is good motivation for me! It’s just easy common sense that when we look good we feel better. You are an amazing athlete and eat pretty dang good so I know you can achieve your goals! xoxo

I have the best little sister in the whole world!!!! Thanks for sharing your deepest emotions on my public page :))) So unlike you :))) But seriously, thanks for pointing out the jealousy issue–so true. I think it helps to recognize things like that to better understand ourselves. And it really is common sense to eat good/feel good. Thanks sissy!!!! xoxo

My beautiful daughter. You do not give yourself enough credit. If I did not know you, I would see you in a completely different light than what you are from reading this latest blog. So, since you are so humble by nature (which I happen to think is one of the most admirable of all traits); let me add a little bit more to your post.
I would see Anna get up very early every morning before school and run. Not just a few blocks but way up to the dike on the outskirts of town, to the south. She would then run somewhere around and end up out by the beautiful spring on the far north end of town and then back home again. Basically, a big, wide circle. Every morning.
No, this did not gain her the bare-boned body she was seeking. I know it was disheartening to put so much effort into something and not get the results you were seeking. I think some of this has to do with a person’s metabolism. I don’t know if everyone CAN attain that kind of a body; at least without that consuming your whole life.
I am glad that you did not turn into an anorexic person. I am glad that you kept your great attitude towards life and goal setting and that you set very high standards for yourself on so many levels and followed those as much as you could.
I do agree that what we eat needs to be in balance with our physical activity and that certain foods are going to produce certain results; good or bad.
Good luck in setting and keeping your goals. Good luck in seeing the fruits of your labors. And remember this one quote: “We are responsible for the effort, not the outcome.” Sometimes after all we can do, we just cannot get the desired outcome. Be happy with the effort you put into it.

I am going to write what keeps me motivated to keep a goal now; the other part of Anna’s request on this latest blog.

I am a “see-saw” person. I go gung ho on something for a period of time, then before I know it, I realize I am not doing that thing anymore. (Like riding my bike or making carrot juice every day.)

Sometimes when I realize I am not doing something good for me, I can jump right back in and start doing it. Other times, more often than not, it takes a combination of things to get me going again. To just “do it” sometimes feels like trying to move a huge mountain out of my path.

The things that motivate me are varied and usually unexpected. A song, waking up to a morning after a night’s rain, a good night’s sleep. These energize me and remove the blockages keeping me from consciously making it a good day!

When I consciously want to “move that mountain” out of the way, I know that movement will do it. Keep plowing through the heaviness even if it’s the last thing in the world I feel like doing.

This is part of the feng sui philosophy. Clear the clutter. On all levels. One time, I hung a new painting on my small apt wall and the flood walls burst open and I was on a roll! Bringing something new into my life was the ticket. Just keep on truckin. If you can keep moving, doing…even when there is no desire to…you will walk “out of it” (the blahs).

So that is what motivates me: Movement, Rain, Music & Feeling Good Mentally, from a Good Night’s Sleep. There is an African proverb that says: “Sleep is the best medicine.” I happen to believe that!

    • Anna says:

Thank you mom!!!! I know how you love your sleep :-)))) I agree music keeps me motivated soooo much as well! And little things like decorating a spot in my house….cleaning….looking good naked :))))) thank youuuuuu!!!!!!

Thanks, Anna. You are an amazing writer as well. I am very impressed with your blog. I think we actually have a family of writers! I love that!

This is not my personal writing; comes from a Newsletter I subscribe to and the credit goes to Isabel De Los Rios:

I think the biggest mistake people make when attempting to drop fat is thinking that they need something outside themselves to make it happen.

Ok, yes, you do need actual food (nobody needs to starve and ever be hungry).

What I’m talking about is the little magic pill (or pills) that you need are being produced in your body right now.

    I’m talking about hormones.

Specifically, I’m talking about your friends insulin, testosterone, estrogen, and growth hormone. We’ve discussed these all in great lengths, but the super quick cliff notes summary of each is this:

Insulin – make too much of it and you’ll see more fat than you want. Don’t see enough of it and you’ll suffer a long list of health problems. The secret is balance.

Testosterone – Fellas, don’t have enough of it and your fat loss goals will be nearly impossible to reach. Too much, and your anger levels will be more than your lady can handle.

Estrogen – Ladies, have too much of it and your hips and thighs will show it, and not exactly in the best way, (if you know what I mean.) Fellas, same goes for you. Too much estrogen and you’re not going to be looking like the hot stud on the beach this summer.

Growth Hormone – One of the key ingredients to muscle growth and weight loss and it’s not just for bodybuilders. We all need the right amount of GH in our bodies to look and feel our very best.

That is the abridged cliff notes version as there have been hundreds of books and textbooks that go into great lengths explaining the ins and outs of each…more detail than you and I will ever need.

    Here’s what you do need.

You do need to know how to use your hormones to attain your fat loss goals and maintain your ideal weight.
