Baby Love!

My beautiful baby Oliver is now six weeks old so I suppose my maternity leave is over…time to get back to blogging! 🙂

Here is my sweet boy at six weeks...smiling and laughing all day long! :)

I’ve actually sat down to write an update several times in the last six weeks and each time I do a tiny human being needs me NOW. As a matter of fact, he is calling my name this very instant…

Six Hours Later…

I’m back and hopefully can finish this post!

Everything is going great with our little bundle of joy! My labor and delivery went awesome and my recovery has been great as well. The only hitch is I have a belly button hernia (which I developed eight years ago with my first pregnancy) and it’s gotten worse and is slightly painful. But my doctor said I don’t absolutely have to have it fixed. My stomach will just have a huge bump in the center and it will get worse as I lose weight. Sounds lovely right!?!

Speaking of weight, I have about 10-15 pounds to lose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight which I’m ok with. I started back at Crossfit Dixie yesterday and feel so much better when I exercise so I am going to try my hardest to get back into a routine. I do appreciate the value of a pair of Spanx though!

And speaking of Crossfit here is a really cool picture I saw on Instagram…nails and Crossfit…two of my favorite things!

As long as I can get a decent nights sleep working out is totally doable, but little Ollie isn’t a fan of sleeping at night. Poor little man has the worst gas and I can see him wriggling and working on getting it out all night long. It seems like it gets worse at night too for some reason. I’m doing a combination of breast and bottle feeding so I don’t know if it’s something I’m eating that’s causing it or the formula. Kind of frustrating but I’ve read they usually get over the worst of the gas issues around two months, which is right around the corner for us. 🙂

Because little Ollie requires my undivided attention for the most part during his “awake” hours, I try to prioritize his “napping” hours time between the following activities:

Clean the house
Shower
Workout
Nap
Shop

Which doesn’t leave me a lot of time for nails. I did my nails special for my husband’s grandma’s funeral last weekend and I literally slapped the gel polish on in ten minutes. Not the best application ever but they are surprisingly holding up very well!

I call these my "live dangerously for Nanny" nails...Jason's grandma Jean was an amazing lady and lived an amazing 95 years! She always had a smile and a giggle for everyone she met! We will miss her but are so grateful for the legacy she has left behind! Love you so much Nanny! xoxo!

Motherhood perplexes me and I could devote an entire blog and website to pregnancy, labor and delivery, nursing, or newborns! I love talking about any of those subjects!

I love baby life so much even though it is so difficult at times. When Oliver smiles at us it lights up our whole world. His older brother is just as smitten as me and dad. He’s got every one in the family wrapped around his teeny tiny fingers!

Here's daddy and brother holding Oliver when he was brand new :)

This is just a quick update and I promise to give you some good nail art ideas here soon! I have a bunch of new products I want to review and new techniques I would love to try!

Thanks for reading! Let me know if you have any questions about nails, crossfit, newborns, nursing, natural childbirth, or belly button hernias!!! lol 🙂

P.S. This blog post ended up taking me three days to complete. I think for my best interest I am going to lower my blogging expectations. A lot. 🙂
